I'll keep an ear out for you, dude.
Dude, if you have a MAC or are willing to convert one of your PCs to Dual-boot leopard, I can hook you up with a project doing a custom iPhone App. It's all I've got on the horizon right now, but I'll keep an eye out.
On a less practical note, let me just say how much this SUCKS!!
However, one *VERY* small silver lining...
*MORE SPOONS!!!!*
Oh, srsly? I was actually thinking about iPhone development, previously... What kind of project is it? (I do have a mac available, and I can dual-boot leopard)
Also, completely agree, re silver lining. :)
Good luck finding a new job!
OOOH! Also, if you (or Cat) are interested in some remote work doing transcription, I might be able to put you in touch with someone who can point you in the right direction there as well. Not that I think either of your dreams your nights away of being transcriptionists, but it's a well-established work-at-home opportunity that's on my mind.
:( I am not so useful as Misha, and can only offer imaginary networking, which would pay in love.
...Erm, but not in a dirty way...

Hey, always appreciated! :)
My gf's bf (oh poly!) Wes said his company uses programmers, and they send people all over the place, so your location probably would not be an issue. There's a lot of travel, typically but he's been really happy there. He's checking to see if his company is hiring and said to please email him. forsythew [at] gmail [dot] com
got a linked in profile ? (email me liz@bookmaniac.net ... people ask me for programmer recs all the time.)

*laughs* I'm still figuring out LinkedIn -- I entered your email to search for your profile, and I think it sent an invitation to add me as contact, but I didn't get a chance to write a message. So if you get a LinkedIn email from Dmitr, that's me! :)
Get thee to LinkedIn.com immediately and find me. I'll see what I can do.
he's on it somewhere.. I threw his info at a friend of mine and she dug him up
I wish I could be of more help. But in the off chance I hear of anything, I'll point you to it. So sorry to hear this :(
I have a couple recruiters I have worked with who are very kind and very together, one of whom I did remote work for. If you drop me an email at jessica.melusine@gmail.com I can send you their contact info and if you give me your legal name, I can also write and let them know you are coming their way.
I can't promise anything, but they're really nice and the telecommuting gig I had was great.Hope it helps.
I have two friends who are working together at a place that's using Ruby a lot; they're looking for ppl who are good with it. They're still in the sorting-through-resumes stage, and he said to send resume etc to Dmitry at ratnikov [at] gmail.
Good luck.
I have no leads for you, but I'll keep an eye out.
Bummer, though - best of luck getting new work lined up.
Ugh, there's a lot of that going around. My sympathies.
Have you done academic work in the past? WOuld you be interested in academic work, or are you looking for something with more money? Any job opening I'm likely to run across is in a university somewhere. :)
Academic work rules, though I haven't encountered much that's telecommute-friendly! Absolutely, I'd be game for that.
Just saw this (been very lazy on reading LJ lately), but thought I'd chime in: I know a telecommuting friendly software company here in Madison. Their products are all in Smalltalk, and Smalltalk developers are kind of scarce, so I think you could get a pretty good gig. I know they're looking to expand, and they pay good money. There are (as always) some downsides - mostly it boils down to the fact that it's a very small company with an uncertain future and a not so great manager. If you'd like more information just let me know, and I'll get you the scoop.
Oh hey! Yeah, please let me know! I'm very interested.
(I might have even seen them on the job ads, but I thought they didn't allow telecommuting positions. if they do, please let me know!)
Hey, I'm attempting to forward all my readers over your way, I hope something good comes of it and if there's anything else I can do please let me know?
Um, I quoted your entire post, too. I would have asked permission but I thought speed might be the better part of valour. I hope that's ok?
I posted a round-up today, and this might suit you. You'd know better than I, of course, but I thought it worth pointing you at it.
How are you at frontend work? I know a bunch of folks looking for short-to-medium term contractors.
I'm pretty good! (Like, graphics work, or more like forms & interactive site layout?) What kind of stuff are they looking for? |
